Harvest Moon Festival - 2014

Every year during the first weekend of October the Delaware Nature Society hosts the Harvest Moon Festival at Coverdale Farm Preserve. It's a tradition among the little cousins to go together and enjoy the festivities. There are arts and crafts for the kids, games, face painting, farm animals, hay rides, pony rides, music, and yummy food.

It's fun to see the cousins get together every year for the Harvest Moon festival and see how much they have grown. Like most kids, they often just wander and do their own activities. Occasionally they hang out together, and it's the cutest!

The kids love seeing all of the farm animals, and it's just as exciting as the year before. They have special activities like milking a cow, holding a chick, and apple cider pressing. E likes to keep his distance, while O is fascinated and wants to get a closer look. The animals are very gentle and friendly.

The hay ride was a hit with E, and he even had fun with his cousin checking out the tractors on display. The ride was exciting and worth the long wait. O took a nap and missed out on the adventure. No worries. He had a fun filled experience this year (recap to come later... keep in mind I'm 1+ year behind in blogging).

Not pictured are the food trucks for this event. Make sure to eat early to avoid long lines and to gab a seat under the tent. It can get a bit crowded around noon.

We love going to the Harvest Moon Festival to dip our feet into the fall activities leading to Halloween. E is especially excited for the big pumpkin trick-or-treating event at the end of the month. Spending an afternoon on the farm is the perfect start to October.
