Happy Birthday Little E

We celebrated Little E's birthday over a month ago, and I'm finally getting around to editing pictures and posting about his big day. That's not too bad considering it took me about a year to blog about his 1st birthday. Please tell me how did my little guy grow up so fast. It's incredible what a difference two years can make. I remember how tiny he used to be and how challenging the first year was, and now my baby is a growing toddler with opinions. He is just as precious, and I want to keep him tiny forever. Please stop growing, Little E!

E was reluctant to wear his birthday hat at first

but managed to keep it on, which wasn't the case last year

We celebrated Little E's actual birthday at home with vegan cupcakes from Whole Foods. He loved blowing out his candles and eating the delicious chocolate birthday cupcake.

A few days later we celebrated his 2nd birthday with family and friends. Can you tell that he loved the attention?

No party would be complete without a few DIY details. I'm so glad that I started two months ahead and was able to get a good amount done before pregnancy symptoms hit. I decided to go with a Daniel Tiger themed party with vibrant rainbow colors.

Cupcakes were made by our friend Lena, and she did a fantastic job. She even took on the challenge of making vegan cupcakes, and boy were they delicious. Little E had fun decorating.

Every party I try to get Little E to take pictures with guests. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. He would rather be playing than posing for pictures. I can't blame him.

We planned on announcing my pregnancy with Little E wearing his "Best Bro Ever" shirt. Some people noticed, but I don't think most people did. My FIL made us make a formal announcement, but again I don't think most people caught on.

Cake time is the best time for a toddler. He enjoyed the attention, blowing out candles, and especially the cupcake eating part. He continued to eat leftover birthday cupcakes for a few days, and boy was he a happy camper.

We had many generous family and friends who gifted Little E some amazing gifts. Last year we didn't get a chance to open presents, but this year he had a lot of fun opening and thanking everyone.

While throwing a birthday party is no easy feat for amateurs like us, I do enjoy the planning and experience. I've always wanted to have birthday parties at home for my kids, and I hope I can continue to do so for years to come. This year Little E really started to understand the concept of birthdays and all the details that come along with it. He had so much fun, and I cannot wait to plan another party for him. Actually, yes I can wait. I don't want him to grow up! Happy 2nd birthday Little E. Stay little forever.

Sick Little E

Little E has had a fever since Sunday, and he has been under the weather ever since. We have been lucky that he hasn't had any major illness in the last 2 years of his life. He has only had two doctor's visit other than his routine visits -- one for eczema and another for suspected ear infections which proved to be nothing at all. Usually we let his sickness run its course, and he is back to normal within a few days. This time it's different, and my little guy is suffering more than ever. He went to the doctor's office today, and he was diagnosed with impetigo and herpangina. I'm hoping the antibiotics will help. Seeing him suffer is the worse.

Not only is Little E suffering, but so is this mom over here. I am trying my best to help him in every way possible, but I am physically and mentally drained. Little E throws tantrums left and right. His favorite foods are now no longer his favorites, which makes sense due to his mouth infection. He wants to scratch his body nonstop, which is making his eczema so much worse. I'm having a hard time keeping up with his needs and demands. It leaves me no time to take care of myself, which also means I'm not taking care of Baby Negi. Sigh.

I'm really hoping that Little E improves soon. He is a tough little fighter, but I don't want him to suffer or have to fight anymore. Yucky virus, go away!

Introducing Baby Negi!

So I haven't been blogging lately, but I actually have a good excuse this time! I have been incubating a baby inside me for the last 13 weeks, and I have no energy anymore. I would rather spend my free time taking a nap, and blogging is usually the last thing on my mind. I also spent most of April planning an awesome birthday party for Little E, which I will hopefully post about soon.

For now you get to see an ultrasound photo of our little Baby Negi. Why negi? Well I may have had some negi toro (chopped fatty tuna with scallion) when I was pregnant but didn't know it yet. Negi is short for negi toro, and negi simply means scallion. We love our little one and cannot wait to meet him/her in November!
